Very interesting article that says the FDA requires fees be paid to the government by soap makers. The fees aren't much, but as the article states..
"...they’re enough to put the small-scale, hand-made producer out of business. These cottage industries with 1-5 employees typically make soap in batches of 25-100 bars using food-grade ingredients that can be found in any grocery store. You could not ask for a safer soap!"
Personally I haven't heard of them, but then again I don't use anything that isn't natural, other than fragrance oils, and they've been deemed safe by the FDA.
